5th Grade French Teacher

Le Monde International School, Public Charter of Norman, Oklahoma (LeMIS) is seeking a passionate, committed full-time educator who is energized by teaching in a multilingual environment. Fluent in Spanish or French, our educators provide a rigorous French or Spanish academic program with the goal of developing fluency in communication and literacy in the target language. In a collaborative environment, our teachers develop creative and innovative curriculum while cultivating an understanding and appreciation of other cultures, inspiring self-esteem, and strengthening positive attitudes among students and their community. Our teachers are responsible for developing multilingual critical thinkers who are able to convey their ideas while teaching core skills and objectives for mastery according to national standards. Le Monde is an A+ school which encourages curriculum development through the arts and sciences.

 

Interested candidates must have a strong background in teaching in their native/near-native language, be willing to work in a team environment, have a deep respect for adolescents and be positive and student-centered. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree with fluency in French or Spanish. In addition, we prefer the candidate to be certified in early childhood (PK-3) or Elementary Education (1-6) with international teaching/education/travel experience and competence in cultural diversity. Candidates must also be fluent in English.

 

Candidates will:

 

  • Instruct in core academic subjects (for second language acquisition) according to grade level including language arts, social studies, math and science - always integrating PE, art, music, drama and technology

 

  • Prepare course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines in line with state or school requirements

 

  • Prepare lesson plans which define all requirements and objectives while tailoring individualized plans to meet students needs

 

  • Establish a variety of assessment procedures, benchmarks and evaluation standards while preparing and administering testing including standardized evaluations

 

  • Work in collaborative teams to ensure every student is progressing according to individualized readiness levels to meet standards

 

  • Create and communicate individual student plans of behavioral and academic development with teachers and parents to ensure all students are successful in their learning environment
